RAIN MEDITATION – Laetitia's Channel

RAIN MEDITATION

Let’s start by saying this: I am an island/beach girl! I love sun, heat, palm trees and the beach so much! So rain, especially when it’s combined with cold weather, is not really my cup of tea!

In Europe during the months of November as autumn is arriving, we get a lot of these grey and rainy days. During this kind of weather, most people feel sad and tired.

I would like to give you a different point of view about rain…

When I booked my yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India, I knew that it would be happening during the “rainy” season and didn’t look forward to the rain at all! (But I still prepared well for it!)

I have to say; it was a “hot” rain but a lot of it during a whole month!

Everyday at 6 pm, we had meditation classes. My meditation teacher Swami Atma was so amazing that he convinced me to love the rain!

We had many days when it was raining while meditating.

He said: “The rain is a blessing, a gift from the universe and nature” and ” The rain cleans our mind and purifies us.”

And also: “Without rain nothing grows. Learn to embrace the storm of your life.” And he was so right!

I found 2 different ways to meditate with the rain:

1- By listening

When you close your eyes and pay attention only to the sound, it has an extremely calming effect. What a pleasant sensation!

2-By watching

When watching, it helps you to bring your attention out of your everyday thoughts, allowing your brain to “rest”. That is also highly beneficial.

I would recommend trying both techniques.

I am so happy that my teacher changed my point of view on rain! Now when people say with a sad voice “Oh no, it’s raining today!” I try to explain how they can benefit from the power of the rain!

“Everyone wants happiness, no one wants pain. But you can’t have a rainbow without a little rain.”

I hope that this article will help you to have a positive approach to rainy days! Next time it’s raining, think about it!

Namaste!
