WHAT IS OM?
While practicing yoga, I am sure that you have heard people chanting “OM” or you have even said it yourself, probably without even knowing what it stands for! Have you ever wondered what it actually means and where it comes from?
The sacred syllable OM is an ancient Sanskrit symbol first found in the Vedas, originating between 1500 – 1200 BC
OM is considered the most sacred mantra in Hinduism and Tibetan Buddhism.
The sound OM is a vibration from which the entire established universe emanates. Form and creation come from vibration. OM is the most elemental of vibrations.
OM is the sound of emptiness, the universal sound and the 1st sound of creation.
OM is everything; it’s the source, the essence of life.
It’s the vibration and consciousness of the entire universe.
“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration. The very foundations of our universe, of matter and thought, appear to lie in sound vibration.” Nikola Tesla
